How many of us here have gone on the tracks before?
My guess is pretty close to ZERO.

I saw someone jump onto the tracks before to pick up something he dropped. It was a piece of paper and I must assume, as important as his life. He got back onto the platform without issue. This was at 14th street about two years ago.

I suspect far more people jump down to the tracks and return safely...but you never hear about that. You only hear about the very rare times people are killed in this matter. It's still best not to do this though!

I jumped on the tracks once. I was getting on the train and my disc man (yes disc man) fell between the train and platform onto the track so I got off the train, waited for it to pass and hopped down and got my disc man and climbed back up. I was fine sadly my disc man was dead.

I have never, ever, ever, ever seen anyone dumb enough to jump onto the tracks.

First problem is :how to get back up easily...with a cantilevered platform, empty beneath, legs dangling underneath.

Second Problem: However you do it cleanly, you will wind up filthy as schytte from a century of muck.

Third problem (minor): it may cost you your life.

So again, I have probably spent as much or more time on subway platforms as anyone here...and I have never seen anyone dumb enough to jump onto the tracks for any reason whatsoever.

I saw one girl, three guys and a dog on the track at the same time once. They were already there
when I enter the station. The girl and the little dog both were very cute. What do you guys think
of the over and under the three guys were down on the tracks to help because the girl is cute? Or
because the dog is cute?

I will not go down on the tracks for anything except a human being is down there, and he/she must
not be too heavy first.
