Nassau and Suffolk have been under pay freezes for a while now. NYPD cops hired in the last 5 years or so are making more than cops from those departments with the same time on.

Suffolk county cops were one of the highest paif police departments in thr country, what happened? Its nice to see that the NYPD has caught with pay amongst other neighboring police departments.
Those hires that were already at top pay are still making some of the highest police salaries in the country, but the pay freeze has been in place for a few years now, so anyone who wasn't at top pay has been frozen at whatever step they were at when it took effect. Many are now making far less than NYPD cops.
i was wondering if you could live in the Manhattan with a police officers salary. A police officer's salary is around 40-50,000, when first starting off. i was thinking of area like UES, UWS, LES, Murray Hill or the East Village.
There are 4 other boroughs. Why do you need to live in Manhattan?

Do you have a family? What you can do is obtain a mitchell lama housing. I know some guys who did that when they first started out before hitting top pay.
Try port authority police they are currently hiring.
Too late, the time to register for the test has already closed.

Not so for PAPD. It's very common to easily hit 100k. It starts off very low, but you're at a base of $90k after 5 years.
At top pay in the NYPD you can hit 100K. Not bad considering you don't need a college degree and health care is second to none. The previous poster was responding to another poster's answer.

You can hit 100K with a decent amount of overtime. I never disputed that. I was simply stating that it is not necessarily the case for all beat cops.
And he was literally responding to me...
