Anyone consider asking what ELSE might be going on ? Such as foreign investment in real estate, which came up above. Gee, wonder how that impacts blacks and latinos.

The mayor of NYC cannot outlaw foreign investment in real estate, btw.
And I don't think foreign investment in real estate is all bad for Blacks and Latinos. You've had increased commercial development throughout the entire 5 boroughs, and places like the Bronx now have better grocery stores, more mainstream stores like CVS and WalGreens instead of whatever horrible busted up shops.
A lot of latinos work in the hospitality sector, which caters to business people and tourists, many of them foreigners.
If you attend a major university in NY, universities get donations from wealthy foreigners for their programs and facilities and anyone who is a student of any race benefits. Some of the donations they give even go towards financial aid.
I'm more than happy for the Bloomberg era to be over, but to say I haven't benefitted from foreign investment would be ridiculous. I even ethnic restaurants, which is a low level form of foreign investment (which often have better quality food than mainstream American places).
