I have an issue with it being nine ice rinks. That is a waste of space. They will not use up nine rinks.
Bergen County NJ has the Ice House and that is only four rinks. At most the Bronx can do is 2 or 3 rinks. There are private schools in the Bronx that can use an ice rink, like Fordham Prep, and Cardinal Hayes. I believe have ice hockey teams. St Raymonds use to have one too. Even SUNY Maritime could even use one even though they are on the other side of the Bronx.
But to make the whole thing 9 rinks is ludicrous. As someone already stated, it should be like Chelsea piers. Basketball, indoor soccer, gymnastics, golf, bowling, swimming, heck maybe even a gun range, I would like that.
Mark Messier and Deutsche Bank or whoever is behind this are fooling themselves. DB even has some teams already playing in Chelsea Piers Skyrink. Those guys are really good by the way.
Is this Armory near a subway line? How far from the Major Deegan is it?
