What empty, non residential area exists IN NYC that would have enough space for a new airport? I might add that JFK is an a residential area too. I lived in Queens for many years near LGA, and it was NO BIG DEAL. Thank goodness NYC planners ignore whiny people among the public, as if they listened to every whine there'd be no airports, no trains, no buses, no roads or highways, no NYC even!

Biden is a tard, I flew in and out of LGA a few times, reminded me of what airports used to be in the old days. Being a nostalgia buff I honestly can say I kind of enjoyed the experience.
The only thing nostalgic out there is the Marine Air Terminal now used for the Delta Shuttle but originally used back in the dirty thirties for the Pan Am Clipper, a sea plane. It's a masterpiece of a building with great depression era inspired art inside. They should save that building, maybe bring the sea planes back and turn it into a kiddie ride, and level everything else. The Main Terminal is a joke what with American, United, and many other smaller carriers using it there is no room for amenities like a civilized place for passengers to wait or orderly pick up and drop off of passengers. The room to expand east was given years ago to U.S. Air and Delta/Northwest who now both enjoy huge terminals while the ridiculous "main" terminal does indeed look like dawn raid at Entebbe.
I would also like to add that penn is a disgrace and can not accommodate plenty of riders do due growing demand of commuter rail. So much of NYC transportation complexes needs to be overhauled for the 21st century. Also a special nod goes for PA bus terminals. Look at our subway system, its one of the most horrible subway systems in the world on par with Mumbai and Beijing with its over crowdedness. Subway system is dirty, filthy, overcrowded. Some subway stations have snotcicles like what you find in underground caves on Mars. The subway system is horrible. NYC needs to upgrade all forms of transportation here but who is going to give the MTA and Port Authority money to overhaul these facilities which can cost dozens of Billions of dollars.
This! New York also needs to expand its subway network and build more subways. If Biden the VP is going to comment on NYC infrastructure is he going to convince Obama and Congress to sends many billions to NY to help in these endeavors?

Airplanes would have to fly over neighborhoods to get to these places! LOL Not an improvement in the mind of Nightcrawler.
Plus I'm sure the families who have loved ones buried in these cemeteries would strongly object. They are never going to convert a cemetery in NYC to an airport.
I agree, LaGuardia has been a dump for years and its shameful that it hasn't been renovated. Even the Detroit Metro airport puts it to shame--by a wide margin.
I really doubt we'll see any movement on remodeling it any time soon.
Telling comment. Detroit used to be a fourth world deal. Then a long time of constructions that constricted EVERYTHING, but it is pretty decent, now.

The environmental impact study would be an interesting read.

The wheels have been set in motion to replace the terminal for some time now. Recently Cuomo has begun making noises about he's going to support it--some might say take credit for it, given that this is an election year for him--and now Biden's jumping up and down talking about how bad LGA looks. Why would Biden even care about LaGuardia? Nobody sees any political backslapping in his statement? OK. Carry on, my dear, sweet innocent lambs.

Cuomo should block any PATH work until the the PA does something about the NY airports.
