Is this the last place they lived before moving to NYC or where they were born? Because a lot of the Hoboken/ Jersey City ones I would argue lived / were born somewhere else. There is a % that just transitioned to Hoboken first before then moving into NYC.
I don't consider immigrants as transplants. Most of them come here and live in immigrant heavy areas and more closer to their country in setting.
Transplants mostly come from rural areas and suburbs. I've met many from all areas, Kansas, Montana, Idaho, Arkansas. Very few from populous areas like Florida and Texas.

Well based on methodology it's the last place they got their mobile phone number from. So basically whichever Verizon, At&T, MetroPCS, etc. store that they went to get their phone which gave them a phone number. Ohioans probably change their phone number once they get to New York.
Hoboken is the equivalent of living in Chicago...an urban environment but completely middle-American...very strange. I like Hoboken, except for the major flooding issues, decrepit infrastructure, and ridiculous housing prices....it's refreshing to get away from the NYC stereotypical ethnics (of every color) and their nonsense, and just be around some "normalcy."
Lol, I don't count someone from Jersey or Connecticut as a transplant.
