That sounds about right, if I take a bus road test it knocks out both for the price of one :-) I just need to change it into class B permit.

The CDL requirement recommends a Class A or B, and I was wondering which one you guys recommend applying for? Is one class better than the other for finding other jobs if the sanitation worker doesn't work out? I briefly looked over the two and the only difference I could notice is that Class B seems to work for Buses so that might be a better backup but a little advice would be very helpful.

Class A comes with all the benefits of a B plus more, you can still drive a bus with an A, an A will allow you to drive two trucks or tractor trailers, any combination vehicle, as well as all the vehicles a B allows.

Minimum for sanitation is a CDL B with air brakes tanker and no interstate restrictions

Having an A will allow you to be a wrecker operator if you get the tissue.

This thread has been very interesting and humorous!! Now I understand that your schedule varies. However what are the normal start or end hours? Like 6:00 am - 2:00 pm etc?!

Taking the test was the easy part. It's the 4-5 month wait to find out our score that will be excruciating.

I work at least 10hrs per day, 6 days a week. The hours on the list looks like a big relief. I don't get overtime and doing over 8+ all I can see is $$. I know OT will be for seniority ( just dreaming of being a normal person.) I can't wait for the list numbers, hopefully I did great.

Yes most days when it's not the winter will only be 8 hours , which will be a relief for you. But keep in mind that you will not hold one of these shifts ateady, and they only have to give you 8 hours between shifts, many times you will work 4p-12a then back 8a same day till 4p then back 12a-8a same night, this will happen, it's adjustment , the bouncing shifts is the worst part of being new, and the pay lol
