This is great news! Thanks for posting! I wonder why it will take a whole year to open, though.

I'd be nice if they would venture into Harlem.

Yah I noticed Trader Joe's always follows. Its never been a pioneer. Which in my eyes is ironic as they are the cheaper market compared to Whole Foods or Fairway.
As much as I like Trader Joe's they need to get some balls, they would do well where ever they set up.

Apparently TJ's is all about the supply chain. They want it as efficient as possible. They're very savvy that way. If you notice, there haven't been any TJs in Florida. But now I believe the chain is opening quite a few outlets down there. I guess it was worth the company's while to build an infrastructure and distribution network in the state. Now, why TJs hasn't been in Harlem, I can't say.

Great thing is if you time things right it only takes one MTA fare from the UES.

Take the #6 to 33rd Street and Park Avenue South, walk over to TJ's on Third, then take any of the buses that run up said avenue home. If you can get things done in under two hours you can use the free MetroCard transfer.

You could do this with the one on 14th Street and 3rd Ave as well. Which I have done.
I think what disappoints me so much with this location is its in the same basic area as the 14th street one (only 18 blocks away, thats not even a mile apart from the two).
Would prefer more further uptown or in the boro's.
