Ex-NYPD officer gets no jail time in shooting death - CNN.com
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/20/ny...-brooklyn.html

Not only did the judge not give any jail time, but he cancelled the jury's decision and reduced the conviction.

Of course now Sharpton is going to go crazy but Liang did fire by accident and the bullet bounced off the a wall, freak accident. He shouldn't be a cop but he shouldn't be a felon either

Liang had no reason to fire the gun, and his response afterwards was inappropriate.

This is why I have little sympathy for his situation.

agreed, which is a good reason to be fired from the NYPD but the coroner confirmed that he would have died even without the minutes delay when Liang was panicking about what to do

The final verdict is criminally negligent homocide, 5 years probation and 800 hours community work

Looks like cops are above the law.
If any citizen drives over a another citizen accidentally by car . and waits on the scene. they will go to jail for involuntary manslaughter.
he deserved 5 years in jail at least.
Innocent Life lost = JAIL

Really now? Prove it.

Great news. No perp would have faced manslaughter for this same set of facts. I say that knowing the law and past precedent, unlike the above poster's made up nonsense. Good to see the BLM crowd smacked down also. Screw those terrorists. Best case, an out of control 18 wheeler takes a dozen or so out today at their inevitable protests.

Justice is not blind.
There is one for those who work in law enforcement.
One for the rich.
Then one for the poor.

What else is new in Murica.
