These should speed up travel time because they have no steps so passengers can just board the bus and put in their Metrocards, there's 2 back doors for more efficient unboarding. I think they look cool too.
The design is being hailed as modern, but it isn't. They've just re-introduced a feature that was common on trolleys!
Tpk-NYC...you're right, of course. The idea is that you're only supposed to exit through the back doors, which keeps traffic flowing on the bus. But apparently people aren't impressed by this logic, and continue to do just as they please. Ah, life in New York City!

You're right.... and I love when people get up and walk all the way from the back of the bus to exit through the front door. Go figure
I don't think there is anything wrong with walking to the front if the bus isn't packed. Sometimes you want to make sure your getting off in the right spot and it's hard to tell from the back sometimes. If it's packed well that's another story and I do get annoyed when people do that on a packed bus...
Don't count on it. The two things that are now slowing the buses down the most, as far as I can tell, are the inherent slowness of the buses, including the doors, and the fact - which no one comments on - that the metrocards are slower than the tokens/transfers of the past.

Personally, I think that unless you have serious mobility issues, you should always exit through the back.
Since then, MTA has brought another 328 more LFSAs and 92 more are on the horizon with an option of 300 additional units if everything goes well. They are also get a couple hundred New Flyer Xecelsior artics of various types as well.
