You have a self named Homeless Loser in this forum on welfare, and I doubt this man is from NY. Why haven’t you condemned him, since he does what people you love to cite in the news so much?
It is a tragedy to see two innocent
beautiful souls lost never given the
opportunity to grow and enjoy life.
Their lives lost due to the mistakes
of others. The parents will suffer a
tremendous amount of guilt for the
rest of their lives for leaving their
babies unattended.
This will be dragged out in court for years
and can never bring the children back.
What percentage of responsibility belongs to
the parents ,lanlord,the plumber,
the previous tenants,NYCHA,city ,state,
all of the above etc......
Culpability is a multi edged sword
and sadly this case will be treated as a bunch of numbers.
I'm sure if the parents could to do it all over again they
would have remained impoverished in Maine and taken their chances.
Is the the law the same for state benefits only? I'm curious because I know those housing programs give preference to New Yorkers and wonder if that is legal.
Which housing programs in particular did you have in mind?
Know those "affordable/HPD" lottery units say NYC residents are given preference. This tells me city must state and do so in compliance with various federal statues or whatever, otherwise why bother.
It's sad their kids died, but I think they should sue the landlord directly for failing to maintain the unit.
Responsibility falls directly on the landlord. Steam systems not properly maintained can be dangerous but with a little maintenance things like this can be avoided.
