You only had to wait 5 months to get on after the last hiring season.
You will only work one winter while on probation, snow is when most accidents happen.
You have a good chance to take the supervisors exam, if a re-test is decided in the very near future.

And thats on top of getting a seat today at FBF, with 63k people still waiting behind you.

Count your blessings everyday, not just today!
Being able to take that supv exam is huge. If you can do well, you can basically skip to top pay with only 2 years on.

Is our pension better than FDNY/ NYPD pension ? I just thought they were all basically the same. Pensions,457s,401s aren't my thing,
I just put 10% in my 457 ,hoping that and my pension will be enough.

All the same, but the FDNY pension stands alone which is why its in trouble. The rest of the departments are in the same system as all the employees of the city so more money coming into it unlike FD.

I was under the impression that the pay continues normally up until the 5 and a half year mark even if you become a supervisor 2 years in.

Supervisor is a different pay scale and union. Once promoted to supervisor you jump up to supervisor minimum pay which is $81,000 - $82,000 a year (not including OT)

68,857 made the list
The last list number certified was 5,730
The last list number called was 3,304
The list expires on 03/16/2020
Can I ask how certain are you of these numbers? I am right near the edge of those certified numbers and that has me sweating.
