As one spoke of in another thread; follow the Roman Catholic churches; they normally are a good indication of what sort of demographic lives or lived in an area. North Shore has several that were founded or whatever to serve Italian population including Assumption Church down on Webster Avenue.

My point was looking at Jersey Street and what it is now, it's hard to fathom it being anything else. It's like Tony Soprano when he takes AJ back to his old stomping grounds in Newark. lol

The North Shore does not have a large black population. Maybe 10% tops and that is mainly concentrated in NYCHA. That is not exactly "large" to me in comparison the city overall.
Much comes down to how you count "black population, IMHO.
If by African Americans of past slave ancestry or whatever, then yes numbers aren't that large compared to overall population of SI. But there is a large and growing Afro-Caribbean population on SI and they are fast taking over it seems. You see this in also in the mosques that are popping up in many "black" neighborhoods like Mariners Harbor (there is a large newish one near Andros Avenue). Many of this latter group of AAs just as in Canarsie tend to own (if they can) versus renting.
What skews numbers on the North Shore are the large numbers of NYCHA and other low income housing that are mostly filled with blacks and Latino/Hispanics. From Saint George through New and West Brighton down to Arlington. https://www.nytimes.com/2003/09/25/n...-staten-i.html

Oh you do know...
Am here to tell you... Was bound to happen or whatever with the Rock being of the last places in NYC to find a deal.

Yeah, again it is just like Canarsie and other areas; but you have to give Afro-Caribbean some credit. Many of them are some of the hardest working people I know, sometimes both husband and wife holding down two jobs just to afford buying a house. You also notice lately whenever it is a "black" NYC high school kid that aces admission to one, two or more Ivy League colleges, they are likely from an Afro-Caribbean background.
For the most part things are what they always have been on SI: everybody stays where they are comfortable and minds their business. Yeah, you've got a bit more "darker people" (as some of the old timers would say), moving out to parts of the South Shore, but don't think there is any danger of the area tipping anytime soon.
If anything it is the Russians more people are worried about!

Hell yea us Jamaicans and Haitians work 3 jobs and then drive a Uber on our one day off!
Two blacks move to Staten Island and suddenly there’s a migration lol
