Your price point is very doable. You'd have far more options if it doesn't have to be new construction. You want a Whole Foods too. Outside of Manhattan, Brooklyn only has one, so that means you either get a place in Manhattan or settle for commuting from Brooklyn. You also seem to want a leafy environment. Riverdale is an upper class neighborhood that has that and you don't have to take the subway. Plenty of your types exist. If they don't use Uber or Lyft, they commute with Metro-North or the express bus which is seen as more upscale compared to the filthy subway. No crazies, it's clean and professional types use them.
This building is new construction right near a beautiful park and offers a quick ride to the office via Uber or Lyft.
You have several Whole Foods options either in Westchester or the Upper West or Upper East Side in Manhattan.

Your requests are fine. My girlfriend commutes to and from work using Uber as well. To keep your costs down, you can live in areas without subway access and use the express buses or commuter trains. They are much nicer than the subway.
I would personally suggest Forte Green/Downtown Brooklyn area.
250 Ashland Pl (I'm partial because I live there, love the area) takes me 30 minutes to midtown where I work, a little less on a really good day.
300 Ashland: WF 365 is on the ground level
280 Ashland

While you mentioned private transport - I think that will change. In any case all these buildings are new and close to the N/R/B/Q/D/2/3/4/5
Marshabrady, I looked at a few models online of 250 Ashland Place, and would definitely consider renting an alcove studio.
I like the pictures of the roof deck, yoga studio/fitness center and the fact that the units have floor to ceiling windows, stainless steel appliances and a washer/dryer.
Overall, It looks like a very nice building, but are the units sound proof? Some new construction buildings have paper thin walls.
I'm looking forward to touring 250 Ashland next week. BTW, thanks for the other suggestions too.
Where is she going to find new construction for $2800 in either neighborhood? Even in Riverdale, for new construction, one bedrooms go for almost $2700. If the OP can settle for a renovated apartment, I think the UES or UWS are a no-brainer. That would allow her to basically use Uber and ditch the subway entirely.

What's the fascination with new construction....just because its new doesn't mean it was done properly.
Plus I would hope to think one of those listings out of the 2 links that I posted (which both had hundreds of listings in them) that 1 new construction apartment would be in there...

Don't ask me. That's what she wants. She's probably thinking that she can't get the same amenities in older construction, but most places in that price range will be renovated. I know people on the UWS. They rent in a pre-war building that was completely gutted and re-done. Beautiful inside and out. The mother either drives or takes a taxi to and from.

Yeah, she needs to let the new construction requirement go, it will open up more options

To the OP, I think it's crazy to pay that much in rent (even if your job is paying for it) and not have a one bedroom!
