I need everyone's help on this one. I have been living on the Northeast side of Indianapolis for about 6 months now. I am planning to buy my first home and am considering moving to Pike Township. I don't really know too much about this area. My job and church are in this area which is why I was considering moving either to Pike or Washington Township. Can anyone tell me what the safest areas or streets are within these two townships? I am also looking for an area where I won't have to pay an arm and a leg for a house, preferably with low taxes as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pike Township is pretty safe, I don't think you will have a problem with crime there. Especially if you are closer north. Same with Washington although I recommend you stay north or west in it.

What is your price range? Both areas have a wide range of prices in a wide variety of areas. Price range can help us narrow it down.

I think that in general, both are pretty safe. But I can think of a couple of areas in Pike and Washington township that I wouldn't want to live in because of 'seedier' people/activities/areas. Certainly not crime ridden, but the homes in the areas I'm thinking of also generally don't appreciate as well in value as other areas... Specifically I'm thinking south of 71st and Michigan area, south of 71st and georgetown area (I think that's still pike!), and a couple of other places.

The VERY GENERAL rule of thumb I'd give is that the closer to 465 you get in both townships the better. (so look more to the northern parts of those townships, and the western part of pike).

Pike ? Why not move up to Fishers ? Get out of the county.

Have a friend who built a house in a decent suburb a few blocks from 71st and Michigan 10 years ago, and just sold it for what they bought it for.
