It's annoying to see so much trash in recycling bins. Most people can't be bothered to learn what is recyclable. Other people just use recycling bins as trash bins. I try and spend a lot of time sorting my recycling and it frustrates me to see the bins so "polluted", thereby negating my efforts.

Why can't trash companies refuse to pick up "contaminated" recycling bins? This would send the message to residents to do a better job sorting their recycling.

So many of my coworkers throw their recyclables in the trash even though the recycle bin is literally right next to it. Such f'ing morons, and too lazy to do the simplest things like that. A lot of them also litter right outside of the job

They dont pay attention or dont care. It takes no time at all to read the bin saying what goes in it. Many dont even bother with the bins. They set down discarded trash by trees, the curb or the famous "put it by the sewer grate."
I hope the next person who does that gets grabbed by Pennywise.

^^^^^^That says it all.
Scary thought is that people too stupid to tell a cardboard box from a plate of leftover spaghetti are allowed into a voting booth.

First world problems. If trash in the wrong container is the biggest of your problems, then you have it too easy.

This is a big problem because if nine people recycle correctly and the tenth person doesn't, that whole bunch of it is contaminated and has to go to the landfill. That is a shame and a waste of time and effort.

I don't think much that is supposed to be recycled in NYC actually is. The fact that China stopped taking recyclable material has essentially destroyed the market for this stuff. Most if it is likely just getting landfilled anyway.
