Wimps. That's the problem. Society has broken down, no one cares about anyone else, and most people are wimpy sheep.
Animals like that need lead poisoning at 1100 feet per second, not Riker's Island.
This is true but, there are also elements of a legal system that would punish a good samaritan far worse than the perpetrator. You -know- there are judges out there that don't give a crap about §35.15. There's more than 1 or 2 of those young buck 60-credit cops that don't even remember the authorized use-of-force laws and, will collar any good samritan.

Definitely, all parts of society's breakdown. The amount of "love" perps get today from all angles is startling. Every single person walking who isn't a perp should want to see animals like this one put down. It shouldn't be a question at all.
men are emasculated now, you'd get sued for helping true story
Sometimes getting involved can be deadly. This guy could have a gun but it is disgusting how they filmed & reacted ‘ooohhh.’ I’m guessing nobody was on the phone with 911 because they’d be considered a snitch. The subways during off hours can be menacing. There aren’t a lot of productive, working and law abiding people riding the trains.
Last 3 times I stepped into some crap like this,I got arrested and asked questions later.
Nothing better than a vigilante beatdown, than giving some extra! I Just have to ask for the cameras to stop rolling.
This is one of the reasons most people do not want to get involved. The fact that you step in to help and YOU get arrested for helping. I don't know about anyone else but im not having an arrest on my record as that can be a negative impact later down the line even if I wasn't charged or served time. Even you helped by stopping the aggressor, the aggressor can still turn around and press charges or even sue for medical reasons because someone stopped them. stupid world we live in where coming to the aid of someone can cost you your life or have a negative impact on it.

Exactly where im getting at. They were filming way before the guy got over there so something lead up to it.

There was absolute no excuse for his behavior as some people just need to learn to walk away, he could have walked away but didnt. As for the individuals behind the camera I personally cannot get mad at them for doing nothing or not stepping in as they have to think of their own safety. Its 3am on a Sunday on a north bound 2 train in the BX, meaning late night Saturday partying. Even if they have strength in numbers this guy could have had a gun and by them stepping in things could have gotten worse.

He should be more man than that.
I will agree with you on it was wrong assaulting the individual but I will not agree because they were female or elderly. Lots of time females and elderly believes males or those younger than them should automatically respect them or they should get a free pass for what ever action they do including putting their hands on someone first or initiating into an altercating and expecting bystanders to come to their aid when they are retaliated against. It comes to the saying of don't start something you cant finish and this started way before the recording so something lead up to his actions (I don't agree with his actions but knowing what lead up to them would give a clearer understanding of how the hell do you get to that point). Report says this was at 3am on a 2 train in the BX. Anyone who lives in the BX knows that is a big NO, and if riding the train that late solo you ride in the first cart or middle cart to be close to the train operator or conductor to deter things from happening.
From the article she refused further medical attention and there was no mention of a police report:

She was treated on scene by EMS and refused further medical attention, according to police.
. It appears to me the police didn't even give a damn until the video went viral casting shame on them that they weren't doing anything.
The guy was busted. So in fact those seemingly callous videographers ended up staying safe, out of the fray and helped cops get the perp. Sometimes staying behind the camera and “not helping” is the right thing to do !

Well, I'm glad he was busted, but I didn't see anything in the article about the videographers helping to catch him.
