Do they not have a shuttle to the MNR station in Yonkers? I wouldn't want to take the train up to 242 every day. The 1 train is local the whole way and slow.

Not so bad, especially if a rider boards at Times Sq. They can take the #2 or 3 express to 96th. Beyond that, it's not so long to the end of the line. I've done it.

You can catch the Metro-North Hudson River Line to Yonkers from Grand Central Station, if you don't want to deal with the 1 train. I believe that the Metro-North (depending on the line - Express or Local) makes 4 stops in Yonkers. I do not know how you would get to where you want to go but there are buses that you can catch from the Ludlow and the Yonkers station. BTW, Ludlow is the first stop in Yonkers and Yonkers would be the 2nd stop.

You can also catch the 4 train to Woodlawn and catch a bus from there that will take you to Yonkers. All depends on where you are going and what buses are near there.
