But I am on a lonely campaign to stop anyone from ever saying "Hudson Heights." It is just part of Washington Heights. Also, if you must say "Hudson Heights," the southern boundary is 181st.

Parking is basically impossible.
It definitely looks much cleaner then the area under 179th. Im sure the name is for real estate purposes for sure.
Lol. It's DEF Washington heights !!! Amazing how realtors can create a " neighborhood" thats not really there !! Seriously NYCs real estate practices are a case study to be had
I guess in fairness the area has a distinct character...it's up on a big hill, the apartment buildings are fancier, there's a longstanding German and Russian Jewish presence...still, other parts of the Heights have distinct characters too, and they don't get special names. I always thought it was sort of racially coded, for real estate purposes. That kind of thing should not be encouraged.
Real estate hype has been around for decades. As has renaming neighborhoods (the East Village, Clinton, Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill previously known as the East Side, Hell's Kitchen, South Brooklyn).
Nice clean quiet neighborhood. Middle-class demographics. Lots of families 'cause the neighborhood school has a very strong rep. But a good number of singles too. Its not an old-folks neighborhood. Also lots of musicians -- older apartments with thick walls and modest rents by Manhattan standndards. Anyone with an apartment facing the Hudson has a fantastic view. Big Orthodox Jewish population down on Bennett Ave. Rest of the neighborhood mainly mixed White and Hispanic. Parking is impossible. Get a garage for your car. Local shopping is limited but good quality and there are a handful of nice restaurants and bars, though most people go dowtown for entertainment. And traveling there late nights on the train can be long 'cause the A runs local.
And yeah, it is part of Washington Heights. Don't know when the name Hudson Heights started, but I think it's code for "middle-class and stable" moreso than "white." And that middle-classness does differentialte it very much from the rest of the Heights, which is predominately poor to working-class with generally worse housing.
