41 mass shootings n 2019. So much hate. We need leadership in government and business and religion to take a moral stand and be more respectful and friendly towards other leaders who have different POVs. Lead by example.
It would be far more impactful if Israeli leadership spoke out strongly against hateful attacks on Muslims and Palestinians also. It’s all bad.

Say somebody punches you a broke your jaw in NYC. Even if the guy was caught, he'll get out with a minor misdemeanor these days. No jail. It's up to you to press charges and when you win in court then you have to sue him in civil court for the cost of your injuries. Most of these perps do not have a dime in their bank accts and you'll never get anything.

That perps know the system and the police can't do anything about it. The only thing you can do is get your own body guards.

I don’t think grafton Thomas will receive a minor charge and light sentence. I have faith that the Jewish community along with other compassionate people, will compensate the victims as they have recently in jersey city. A hate crime (like most crimes) does not require the victim to press charges although they do often testify.
The issue is not jail time or compensation. The issue is why is there so much hate?

But I can't just blame it on uneducated people, because there are alt right college students who hate Jews too.
Far left college students hate Israel and always have. Don’t pretend this is a right problem.

The far left and far right have some similarities

And that blanket statement is a perfect example of what’s wrong. The far left (and NO I do not count myself among them) does not “hate Israel,” but they do have serious issues with the way the government operates and unfortunately the behavior of too many of the far left (and the far right) makes it impossible for anyone to hear what valid points each side may have because of the flying rhetoric.

Like that headline is supposed to surprise us?

As to what can be done - well, there was a sizable spike in hate crimes beginning as Trump rose in 2015. Draw your own conclusions about the solution.

yes NYPD needs to be in those neighborhoods more.
give out tickets and deal with the chaos caused by those living there.
Its impossible to drive because no one cares about any moving or parking rules there.

It doesn't seem like any effort is ever made to address the underlying causes and prevent them.
Perhaps the underlying cause is the lack of parents being parents and teaching their children values and manners in the home. Its easy to say that government officials don't do anything but what kind of legislation should they pass or what kind of person could you elect that is palatable to everyone?

This attack is unjustified and I am sure media sources will rip various aspects of it apart based on their slant. The community where this occurred and the others near by have never done much to endear themselves to their secular neighbors and one of the consequences of this is an apparent lack of concern and distrust that seems so prevalent. If a tragedy like this occurred in Spring Valley to a family observing Christmas the Monsey community and the rest of them wouldn't raise a finger for anything but that wouldn't be labeled "Domestic Terrorism".
