Hannah I am doing you a disservice by not explaining

So I will explain for you, and everybody what the term actually means

It refers to a particular segment of our society that operated in the time before credit cards and such, when only the husband was required to work and one salary was adequate to support a family

The "boomer" in today's society still thinks the world operates like that

Thats a "boomer".

The usual display of cluelessness hilariously pretending to be "knowledge. I'm a Baby Boomer - both of my parents (who were the Silent Generation, ie, even one generation earlier than mine) had substantially equal careers, while I have had credit card (with the same bank) since I was 25 :-).

Hmm. Maybe. The connotation I get on CD anyway for "boomers," is a bunch of highly conservative, highly opinionated, narrow minded people of a "certain age" who whine constantly about the "good old days" because they think those are the only days that matter and who are stuck in a rut they blame on everyone else because they think they're too old to do anything new; hate poor people, NYC and wish they lived at that cult complex in Florida .

We need another term.

Not sure this is any different from what I just wrote. Saw this after btw.

ETA:

To Be Clear Though:

My issue is that all the "boomers" I know are polar opposite to the stereotypes on CD. Not one person I know even comes close. That's my issue.

I read threads, whatever is in them, to gauge the degree of hope vs. hopelessness for the future of NYC.

Thank you, but none of this really explains to me why you seemed to take offense

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5ZWo8e15dE

podcast video finally posted
(I wonder if they clipped some stuff out)

i've always been independent i used to
be the new york state reform party
chairman until andrew evil eyes cuomo
wiped out all third parties because he
wanted to kill the working families
party but guess what he only
strengthened them
so i'm gonna i'm an odd bird when it
comes to being a republican the money
people hate me
isn't this ironic eric adams the
democrat right the guy who claims he's
blue collar loved by the rich and the
wealthy and wall street, curtis sliwa the
republican hated by the establishment
but loved by the peeps in the subways
and the projects wow this this has never
occurred in the history of politics it
sounds backwards yeah well no because
it's who i am
and they don't like it hey
i got elected as a republican candidate
so apparently there are a lot of blue
collar working-class republicans out
there who overlook the fact that i'm a
never trumper
remember no never trumper
has won an election wow no when when
you're never trump or in the republican
party let's face it, then Cheney
you're dead on arrival, I survived that

So he seems to have run as a Republican because he knew he couldn't get the Democratic nomination but, in any case, his choosing Giuliani to speak on primary night isn't exactly giving me "never Trumper" vibes.

He just talks out of his you know what.

Becuz the year I was born makes me a boomer and I don’t want to be lumped in with ignorant riff raff.

I have too much homework already.

No, he has always been an independent like he says in the quote, and right leaning in certain ways such as his views on criminal justice, repealing bail reform and that we should "fill up Rikers" and his commentaries on his radios show
- but with some progressive-ish views mixed in as have been shown in this thread
He is a definite mix, in some ways to the right of Eric Adams and in other ways perhaps not
He would take issue with Trump as Mitt Romney or as Liza Cheney would as Republicans and on his personality, nor making them Democrats.
He would argue that Trump and Giuliani are different (though had been allied)
See the video the bottom for Sliwa's vison for the Reform Party back in 2017
_________________________

In September 2016, Sliwa launched a successful hostile takeover of the Reform Party of New York State.[37] The party lost its ballot access in the November 2018 elections.[38]

In December 2019, Sliwa declared in an interview that he hated then Republican President of the United States Donald Trump, calling him a "screwball and a crackpot".[39] In February 2021, weeks after Trump left office, Sliwa switched from the Reform Party to the Republican Party

Sliwa was born into a Catholic family of Polish and Italian descent, in Canarsie, Brooklyn. He has two sisters. He attended Brooklyn Prep, a Jesuit high school from which he was later expelled, and graduated from Canarsie High School, a Brooklyn, New York City public high school. In his youth, he worked as a delivery boy for the New York Daily News, where he was awarded the title of "Newsboy of the Year" and a trip to the White House after he saved several people from a burning building while on a paper route.

Prior to founding the Guardian Angels, he was night manager of a McDonald's restaurant on Fordham Road in the Bronx
