There is a newish Springhill Suites near Jamaica Station. Not so sure about the neighborhood, though. Any thoughts on that?
I stayed at the Hampton Inn JFK in September for two nights, it was perfectly acceptable. Not the greatest hotel ever or anything but free hot breakfast and I had UberEats delivered. There's also a mini-fridge in the rooms and a microwave you can use in the dining area so you can just get stuff delivered from UberEats grocery or convenience options if you don't want the restaurants.
Look's like I am going to be stuck in Queens for a day or two later this week. Most of my time will be working out of my hotel room, but figure when I am there I will try and at least grab a good slice or two of pizza.
My one problem is I really hate Oregano. So, I am looking for a place I get a couple of slices (or a whole pie if necessary) they is thin crust, good cheese, nice simple sauce, but most importantly doesn't cover the thing in Oregano or overload their sauce with it. I will probably have to take an uber to get anywhere anyways, so anywhere in the general Queens area will be OK with me.
Have you tried calling a place and specifically order a pizza without oregano added?
For a topping, yes. For the sauce? That is usually premade (it has to be). So no, not sure that would be realistic.
Actually, the Oregano think is really a New York thing. Most others don't use much of it, if at all.Oregano is more a Greek thing than Italian, it was just something that happened to be available here in the early part of the century.
To give you a good idea of what I like as a Pizza, the Regina Pizza chain out of Boston is a good example.
So then don’t eat pizza while you are briefly here in NY. There’s lots of other foods to choose from.
BTW, have you considered staying in that new Resorts casino hotel? I think it would be just a bit more upscale than those airport ones. It is near the JFK area.
I believe there is an A train stop there too that goes to the Airtrain to JFK.
