On few times have bothered every other person gets on bus without paying. Some give driver a sad tale of woe and misery and he/she waves them onboard. Others just walk on, sit down and no one says *Boo*.
Subway isn't that much better either. Other say saw some big girl pull an Olympic worthy move as she pole vaulted herself up and over turnstile at 86th street "Q" station.
At some point you feel like the only eejit that bothers paying to ride a bus or subway.
As someone who takes the bus all the time, I admit I am amazed at how many people don't pay. BUT, it's not every other person. It's about 1 in 10 or 15.

I ride the bus a lot in Westchester and people always pay. Those that sit down first find the change in their purse and then walkup to pay while the bus is moving.
