In order to correct mistakes one needs to acknowledge they exist in the first place. The guy's smart but I'm not sure he's willing to sacrifice politically to improve the city. Seems more interested in "building his brand" via PR. There will be some clear signs that he is ready once he starts mentioning certain things but he's far from that.

Quote:
Mayor Eric Adams had no idea how rotten the Big Apple was at its core before taking office — telling The Post he was “shocked” to learn just “how bad this place is.”

During an exclusive interview conducted as Adams rode the subways overnight for more than three hours last week, the former NYPD transit cop said he was astounded by the botched “deployment of resources” that has New Yorkers on edge amid a nearly 40 percent surge in major crimes this year.

“And I started peeling back layers and what it started to unveil to me is how we just had this good shell, but underneath — it’s bad.”

well, go back to whatever guiliani did, that seemed to do the trick.
if we didn't have big bird bozo ruin everything we would be fine.
but he ruined everything and now were in a mess, and this idiot, while having swagger, does need to do a major overhaul of this city, because it basically suck now.

Sounds like "im not sure what to do about it" to me. I agree with the OP, seems like lots of PR building.

He knows exactly what to do.
He has to fight crime. If he does, his own people will hate him. If he doesn’t, the other side will hate him.
He is stuck either way. He knows it.

With Rudy, he went after his own and put them away. That takes balls.

This is the typical political cycle of nonsense.

Campaign: "Promises, promises, promises."

Term: "Well nobody told how bad it was and how hard it would be. I blame the person before me!"

Re-election: "I need more time! Promises, promises, promises."

I guess Adams didn't realize that the city declined dramatically under Deblasio.

Eric Adams is not a bad person in the way that deBlasio was. But he needs better people to give him advice and a new more forceful police commissioner. But the current crime wave in NYC was caused by the NYS Bail Reform laws and Discovery Reform laws. Both laws are designed to put criminals at an advantage over the NYPD.

Adams is a bad person. He may not be as sleazy as BDB but that is really setting the bar low. He's another corrupt, pay to play politician thats well on his way to being a part of the NY democrat political machine.
