You posted an article without any concrete data.
In reality, NY has a huge net out migration to FL.

To fools, and apparently the governor too, this is a good trade.

Yawn. Wake me up when NYers begin moving to the panhandle. FL is more than just Miami, Palm Beach, and Tampa.

You have high paying jobs in the city so it still attract talent and you have social media influencers/YouTubers who hype the city up.

Those folks moving down to FL...they'll be back in a few years.

Even if I wanted to go there to live (which I don't b/c crowded beaches are not my thing), I can't ignore the environmental concerns.

I'll most likely end up in that area of Florida. Too many people in the Tampa area now, even though I have friends there.

NY is more than just NYC but who cares about the rest of NY? Same with FL or any state really.

California has 40MM people and a huge land area, how much do you hear of Stockton, Fresno, or Sacramento?

This has not been the case for like... ever. Majority of the people who leave NY never come back. That is why NY has a net demographic domestic migration loss literally every year, and especially with the states like FL. In fact, in most years NY is a loss leader in the whole country when it comes to domestic migration, even worse than IL.

The only reason why our population is still barely growing is babies and international immigration.

It's quite sad really and I agree w/you. NY can do so much to revitalize upstate but all the money gets sucked up by NYC. For example, once you get to Albany, rents actually become affordable.

You would think that a place like the state capitol with all the politicians and lobbyists would attract more business investment? But instead parts of it look like a zombie apocalypse after 6 PM.
