around 10:30 last night from LGA. The 4xUber economy price shown was $124, black car was $75 (not sure what is this option). all other options were higher, tips not included. My car service charged a flat rate of $35 to get me to where I needed to go (~20 min ride). BIG difference!!!
"Black Car" is the traditional sedan-car type service (Lincoln town car traditionally) that used to be provided by dispatch services like Carmel or Dial-7 (212/777-7777). This is how people who wanted a step up from yellow taxis would get to/ from the NYC airports for decades. They are still a good option.
Hilarious that an Uber X economy car was almost twice the cost of a black car. Competition always improves the price.
Don't know about Revel, but Lyft is generally within a few dollars either way of Uber. There isn't much noticeable difference anymore, whereas Lyft was almost always cheaper than Uber years back, but they just had fewer cars so it took longer.
I am not upset at these prices. Prior to the pandemic I would take an Uber / Lyft almost everywhere due to sheer laziness. Waste of money. The prices creeped up high enough that I am no longer willing to pay "just because." I'll take one if I absolutely have to, but for the most part I've been taking the subway and using that previous rideshare expense straight to savings / investing.
