Whatever neighborhood you decide to live in other considerations are if you have a vehicle. The parking situation in some neighborhoods is atrocious. Street parking only as an assigned parking space or garage is rare. Also, you may need to move the car once or twice a week for the street cleaners (alternate side parking). If you don’t have a vehicle great! Just make sure you’re in reasonable walking distance to the subway or use Uber.

I live in Ridgewood and it’s a pretty decent neighborhood but has a remote feeling (IMO) for being in the middle of Queens.

Ridgewood used to be beautiful from border to border.
Pocketed areas of Ridgewood that are nice are rare.
Some places off Freshpond, Metropolitan and that's about it.
