I'd try Crown Heights......................as far as rental stock .............and quality of life.
What? Laurelton Queens is definitely less violent than Crown Heights.

Your opinion is respected.Glad you feel safe.
There is much to consider. Population number totals ,area size,
levels of crime recorded ...etc.......in arriving at numbers.

Domestic crimes, child abuse, etc.. are harder to see than a dead body on the street.
Then there is the case of unreported crimes.

60% of Laurelton residents respond that Police act quickly.
32% of CrownHeights residents respond Police act quickly.

Does the element of recording data come into question? Maybe. Maybe not.

Numbers stand as posted unless they change.

Data is data...........

Oh got it. Well if that's the case I would say they need to delineate because Domestic violence crime won't impact OP.

I used to live in Auburndale and Domestic violence rates were very high, but sorry to say I slept better at night knowing that the police sirens 99% of the time were for that (and not home invasions and game warfare on the block.)

Ultimately in America we have no control over how people live in their own households - Now if it's to the point where pots and pans are being thrown and loud noise is occurring at 3am regularly then it becomes a community problem.

Agree.......
Some may find this interesting as well.
There were many determining factors before I made my decision in planting my feet.
The two that stood out the most were as follow:

1) The numbers of congregates that attended mass in the immediate vicinity of where I wanted to live.
2) The types of cars parked in the parking lot as well as the way consumers were dressed inside the local supermarket.

How you worship, what you drive and what you where...............says much.

To demonstrate:

I would rather live in a neighborhood where flocks of people worship, parking lots filled with Ferrari's and consumers dressed to the nines
as opposed to an empty house of worship defiled by graffiti, parking lots occupied by banged up Nissan's and consumers dressed in sweats with the
waistline starting down around the knees.

How you respect yourself impacts how others will respect you.

If you want to be in the heart of hip/trendy/expensive, some suggested Brooklyn neighborhoods --
*Williamsburg
*Greenpoint
*Dumbo
*Gowanus

artists drawn here/hip/mostly pretty expensive--
*Red Hook
*Bushwick
*Prospect Lefferts Gardens

good neighborhood with mix of professionals and families/diverse/a bit far/somewhat expensive--
*Sunset Park
*Bed Stuy
*Crown Heights

considered rough around the edges/may not be for everyone/artists can find a deal--
*Cypress Hlls
*East New York
*Canarsie

Bushwick is OK. You will be fine there. Just remember, nothing is as new and clean like Atlanta. It's also not as sterile. People date whoever they want. Not only black men and white women. There are MANY other combinations. Just think of what that can mean. If you are too obvious with women, they will smell the desperation. I am serious

You need to leave Atlanta behind. Everything about it. It's multicultural, LGBTQIA friendly, few church goers, and no one judges what anyone else does. If you do, you will not be welcome.

There are good restaurants and bars. Clubs too. People are friendly if you are chill.

My 20 something son and his girlfriend live there. I can find out if they know of an apartment. A one BR is over $2000.And not large or fancy. This is NY. You are there for NEW YORK. The apartment is where you sleep.

Oh and no air conditioning. Summers are HOT. Good luck.

.
This is solid advice, and absolutely on point.

Atlanta is a suburb compared to New York. Not knocking Atlanta, I like it and used to live there. But it's a low density, leafy suburb and cannot compare to much of New York City at all.

As mentioned, you can date who you want and no one judges anyone. It's progressive and liberal, folks do not care at all. People here are working, enjoying life, giving back and busy.

Atlanta is what it is--and it a pretty liberal "fruit loop" inside the perimeter. But it is apples and oranges compared to NYC, one of the best cities in the world.

LOL....we would always refer to inside of the I-285 perimeter as being progressive and very LGBTQ+ friendly, back in the late 90s/early 2000s when I lived there.

So the I-285 "loop" protected the urban progressive friendly areas from the conservative land of Georgia, outside the perimeter.

Jokingly referred to by LGBTQ+ insiders as the "fruit loop."

Ok. That’s good to know. I heard everyone down there is gay, even outrageous statistics saying the majority of the men there are.
