" The program aims to reduce package thefts by providing an alternative for New Yorkers who live in buildings without secure areas for package delivery. According to DOT data, 90,000 packages are stolen or lost in transit in New York City every day.

The centralized drop-off points are also meant to cut down the number of delivery trips, which the DOT expects will reduce vehicle emissions and traffic safety risks. The LockerNYC program will be available across different carriers including UPS, DHL, and Pitney-Bowes."

Bad idea. Who will assume liability?

Just pay for a mailbox rental service at UPS or FedEx stores.

Liability for what, exactly?

What could possible go wrong with putting lockers filled with packages of expensive stuff out on the sidewalks? Something else for the PoC gangs to feast on in Manhattan where welfare DA Alvin Bragg has effectively decriminalized such offenses. In a few months will have videos of swarms of PoC 'youths' breaking into these pretty lockers.

Amazon has customer pick-up lockers available in certain stores around the city. I've never used them so I don't know how they work.

If crime is down, why do we need these things?

Why does everything at CVS need to be locked up if crime is down?

Some people need to get their perception adjusted.

Some stores who've had them have now opted out due to customers opening up their packages and leaving the cardboard boxes behind leaving the store to deal with disposal. And they have put up Amazon lockers in public parks before only to remove them later due to the same problem. People are lazy.
