If squatting is legal, can you just knock on someone's door and push your way into their home?

Probably not, but maybe if you change your legal address and have some mail delivered there you could claim residency and then squat.
I might try this.
There is a place in the Hamptons I’ve always liked.

Be careful. There are plenty of people who will not take this lightly and will put you in ocean with weights tied to your feet.

Squatters are the weapons that the big oligarchs and businesses use to take over middle class properties. Notice that squatters never takes over an expensive mansion or high end vacation home. There are plenty of those empty vacant. Sure those have security but very laxed compared to those in suburbs.

You don't see the rich complain about the squatters because they are waiting to scoop up on it. I admit, I bought a property that was vacated with squatters and it was a quick flip by those companies. Pretty sure these companies paid off the squatters to leave and they just flip the properties on the market. Squatters have become an instrument for these companies to get prime properties below rate.

I think you have to stay a minimum of 21 days or something like that.

What nonsense. You know what squatters usually take over? Vacant properties.
