My partner and I are thinking of moving to NYC... We are going to want a one bedroom apt on the more affordable side and in a safe clean area... I hate the weather, earthquakes and phony people here in L.A.. We love snow and rain... We are visiting NYC later this month, we would like some ideas on some cool neighborhoods....Thanks..

Do NOT move here without a job. You can't do ANYTHING here without a job/proof of income. Ensure that you have employment FIRST, before anything else.

I agree with the above unless you have some place to stay rent free as long as you like until you find a job. You will need proof of a job/income in order to rent an apt. here.

I made the move from LA. Found a good spot in long island city which is superclose to manhattan, one subway stop. We pay a little under 1400 for a 2 bdrm. It's not luxurious but its safe and convenient.
