I am a drummer, and looking for places to live in NYC where I can play my drums. Someone said I should check out a loft, but wasn't able to elaborate on why (WTH?)...

Do you agree or disagree?

Probably meant loft practice space, as there are tons of those.

Every drummer I know in NYC practices in studio space/practice space

it all depends on the acoustics....not all apts and lofts have the same... most buildings will not tolerate it after a certain time of day an may still complain about quality of life noise issues during the day hours.

Not only does it depend on acoustics, it also depends on your neighbors!

Easy fix: Rent a rehearsal space or build a soundproof room.

I would say any apartment that has a storage area or basement area or maybe even an attic area would be best. It's all about eliminating as many neighboring walls as possible.

Or you could practice in the subway station and get paid to do it!
