If they’re home on UEI, they didn’t need child care.
If they’re back to work, then they’re back to their previous childcare arrangements, whatever they may have been.
Which likely means that people are going back to jobs that pay less than unemployment, sadly and have to shell out money for child care on top of that. I think that was a big reason behind some or many people holding out until the end. So, I’m curious to see what kind of arrangements will be made on the child care front.

If they were getting by before, they should be getting by after.
They should have either returned to their employment if the opportunity was there, or been actively seeking employment while collecting the benefits. Making more with UEI benefits actually should’ve been used as an advantage to get ahead while seeking employment. Instead of sitting home watching Maury and Springer people should have been looking for a job.
I wouldn't hire anyone who has chosen not to work for 18 months and simply took a tax payer paid vacation, if they have been able to work this entire time.

I don't disagree, but I'm just saying that it may have been an indication that they weren't getting by before or were barely doing so. In turn, the issue of child care may come up for some, as they go back to work(or at least attempt to).

America is the land of opportunity.
Life is what you make of it. Some people are just irresponsible and will never be able to get out of their own way. But the opportunity is there. If you are determined and driven enough you won’t have 3 kids working at Walmart your entire life while taking advantage of public assistance. I’m cruel I know, but I’m living proof of an uneducated ******* getting ahead in life because I was hell bent on NOT living on my parents couch and too proud for public assistance. So “barely getting by” should be temporary for most people while working on life improvements. Unless you really are a genetically bred dead beat free loading slacker.

Hey now, Maury and Springer offer excellent ideas for suing someone during every advertisement break. Slips/falls, asbestos, you name it. You can make a fortune this way.

Again, I'm not disagreeing, but we also have to be more realistic and realize that not every situation is the same. So, my point is simply that child care will become an issue for some once the unemployment runs out. That's it. People take advantage of all types of situations, but in terms of this topic, it will be interesting to see what happens. I only mention this, as it was a reason why some/many stayed on it until it ran out.
And people are sad about this because…??? Many companies are struggling to find people to hire because nobody is looking for work anymore. So there are many jobs out there for people to get! So why should I pity anyone that refuses to go out and get a job? Give me a break!
Actually, the presence of extra unemployment benefits doesn't seem to have had much impact on the unemployment rates. Unemployment rates in the states that dropped the federal aid early didn't show significantly larger drop in their unemployment rates than states that continued the federal aid. Economists believe that that's because there's a wide range of reasons for people continue to be unemployed, including child care issues and continuing covid fears.
Well between not having to pay rent each month, stimulus checks, 50% increase in EBT, etc...... proves economists are pretty stupid....
