The anti-vax posts don’t speak well for the IQ of New Yorkers. Death & hospitalization rate of vaxxed population is an order of magnitude lower compared to unvaxxed. But at this point I’m just rooting for Darwin.

Israel (which has a high percentage vaccinated) has just started dispensing a 4th round of vaccines and rational folks here in the US have noticed the vaccinated routinely get infected and spread Covid at this point. Hence the calls for a 3rd (booster) jab -and high profile triple-vaxed cases now abound in the US. Questioning the efficacy of the Covid vaccines (J&J, Pfizer, Moderna) in ‘stopping the spread’ is quite understandable. (There is a tendency on the Left to immediately divert by pointing out that the vaccines do mitigate serious outcomes from the disease).
It is also true that many younger and healthier folks (the not-at-risk) have eyeballed the data and decided the juice ain’t worth the squeeze regarding the vaccine. Many of them also have natural immunity. Their choice. Although the current prez seems to think they’ll have a winter of illness and death, he’s wrong.
Finally, there is an divisive tendency to label those tens-of-millions of Americans who are vaxxed AND against vax mandates as anti-vax. And the millions of unvaxxed younger/healthier not-at-risk do not wish to deny the rights of others to vax and re-vax and vax some more.

We'll hopefully have left by the fall. Unfortunately, my parents are upset and keep trying to convince me to stay. NY is a beautiful state with lots to do and a lot of resources for those who aren't well off but what my parents refuse to admit is that if you still own your own home and have limited resources - it's hard to maintain your home here because of all the taxes.
