In terms of a sports reference, at Noon on Saturday at New Era Field in Orchard Park, NYSPHSAA history may be made during the Class C Regional Football game between Cleveland Hill(Cheektowaga) and Bishop Kearney(Irondequoit), as both of the head coaches of those teams are African American. To my knowledge, I don't think think that has occurred before in a state playoff matchup since they began in 1993. Coaches Who Care: When Eddie Long speaks, they listen

Glen Graham Cleveland Hill football coach discusses the 2016 season

Ironically, Cleveland Hill beat Southwestern(just SW of Jamestown) for the Sectional Championship. Southwestern's head coach, Jehuu Caulcrick is also Black. So, that may have been a first at the Sectional level.
