This thread was inspired by the "Is it ok to not have many friends?" thread.

I was just wondering how many friends most people have. I've included a poll.

For purposes of simplification, a "friend" is defined as someone you could stand to be around for at least 4 hours if was just you and the other person and no one else and someone you've shared at least a few of your feelings with (in other words, you don't spend all your time talking about other people's gossip or sports).

I too was going to vote seven, but then I'm afraid if I do le roi will want to be my friend and then I'd appear shallow having made eight friends. Then again, we're already friends here on CD, so I can't risk losing him as a friend or I'll be branded a loser. In a pickle once a again...

Nope. I have the perfect number of friends already. It's tough to keep that balance, and voting could jeapordize my already perfect world.

no, because there is no question posted as to what is the average amount.


I just thought it would be interesting to see the averages.

I like a small circle of friends...the 4 of us and our spouses makes for a helluva weekend barbeque and football Sunday...plus it evens up the horseshoe games we have....talking chit and drinking beers....all good
