No, CHRISTIANS are the ones who need to learn to be courteous and respectful to those who AREN'T..
I am sick and tired of unctious Christians in your face all the time, Jehovah's Witnesses always knocking on my door, they cry about this "War On Christmas" which there isn't....they try to codify THEIR moral beliefs into OUR civil law books....they basically want to kill all gays, abortion providers and recipients...it just really annoys me.

And if you want to dispute that Christians basically want to kill all the gays...consider what you are doing when you codify employment discrimination. You are trying to deny that person a livelihood, and therefore, the means and ability to support himself and live.

As far as I am concerned, if your weapon is a gun...or if it is economic blackmail...it is still murder.

And if you must know...I am a member of the GLBT community who has had a very difficult time with employment thanks to you Christians.
Thankfully, I now own my own business and no longer have to put up with that sort of garbage.

Yeah, I'm bitter and angry with you Christians who have done everything you possibly could to make my life more difficult than it had to be...just because you had a moral problem with who and what I am. You'd be angry, too, if you went through what I did at the hands of holier-than-thou self-righteous Christians.

And, just for the record...I do not need a religion to inform me the right thing to do...to be kind, courteous and compassionate.
Soooo... why this post, if you are so kind, courteous and compassionate?

To make a point.

Sometimes you have to be offensive to offensive people...for them to get the point that what THEY are doing is offensive!

That said, I know a few (I can count them on my left hand) people who call themselves Christian...who, in my judgement, REALLY ARE...and REALLY TRY...to actually be Christ-like.

I wonder how people like Nelson Mandela who served 27 years in prison or
concentration camp survivors whose families were murdered triumph from those
things without bitterness, anger and hate ???

To judge all Christians by the actions of some is just as narrowminded & prejudiced as
judging a whole race by a few or any group of people by the actions of some...

I find this highly inappropriate and kind of creepy. We don't really talk because he is someone I have just been tolerating and I got tired of wasting my energy on keeping up relationships I don't enjoy. Anyway, I'm not sure what to do. I haven't said anything about it, but I feel a little harassed, since it's obviously unwanted contact, that is being pushed on me. I find this disrespectful and condescending. How do I keep this kind of thing from happening again?
Send him back a copy of the Qur'an, or better yet, a book by Richard Dawkins. That would send a message loud and clear.

You remind me of the extremists on the other side that believe all gay men want to rape little boys.

Nothing beats some tit for tat, huh? Best thing to do is to escalate the situation, right? Maybe the OP should go kill his brother's dog. Yeah, that would really get him.

Is it so surprising that our society is so dysfunctional and violent?

I've had friends that would get bumped in the bar, assume that it was an attentional challenge to their manhood and then try to get in a fight to teach that jackhole a lesson. Don't f' with me.

I don't have a religion, same as other non religious people.

Seriously, do most immediate family members not know if they are religious or not?

If I were religious (christian), I'd already have a bible. If I'm not, why would I want one?

Part of what is in the bible is to spread the word of God. That is what he is doing. He cares about you and wants you to be his 'brother' in God's family as well. He wants to see you in heaven, silly! To enter God's kingdom, you first accept his word in your life. And He wants us to spread his word! Even if you don't believe, your brother does and is practicing discipleship. That's all.
