I love hugs! My girlfriends and I give each other the hug and double cheek kiss combo. Some of the guys will do it too though not at first. After a few times they begin doing it too. As long as the hug doesnt get too personal (aka the drunk hug) then im all for them.
I guess I only really like to hug my husband-and even then after maybe 10 seconds (not sure) I end up pulling away. I am not a fan of hugging casual acquaintances when we go out, etc. It's always just quick & akward & seems pointless to me (like when you just put a quick arm around someone) and it always ends up with a sometimes too long kiss on my cheek from some people.
I didn't know where to post this, so, I'm sorry if this is the wrong section.
So, do you like hugs? If so, how long do you prefer to be hugged? What do you think about hugs?
Do you hug people frequently? If so, do you always hug the same person (or a small amount of people) or do you hug a lot of people? When was the last time you hugged someone?
Personally: I love hugs I like hugs longer than 10 seconds, but I can hug for this time only a few people, because most will not accept that. I think hugs are a great way to tell people that you're their friend. Not everyone wants to be hugged, so I hug frequently only the people that want to. I'd like to hug a lot of people, but I end up hugging always the same people, because they're the only ones that want to. The last time I hugged someone was this morning
I have never been hugged. However I don't like to be hugged.
I also at times wonder how does it feel when you are hugged? but that's just a thought
My immediate family was never touchy-feely. For most of my adult life I rarely if ever hugged people. Then came my sister's wedding. She was 35 and I was 39 at the time. Everyone was hugging her so I offered her a hug. It was the first time in our lives that we hugged. She was taken aback at first.
Then the other day I went over to a former co-worker and friends house. She is older than me and needed some handyman assistance hanging some new blinds and fixing a shed door. The old blinds had cords that her cats destroyed. She wanted to replace them with cordless blinds. I was able to get it all done and also tentatively fix the shed. She hugged me and I was okay with it. Maybe I am starting to mellow on the hugging.
That all being said I still hate to be touched from behind including being tapped on the shoulder or patted on the back. I think this is somewhat instinctive as no creature in nature likes being startled by touch. Of course as I mentioned up-thread I absolutely despise the French/Italian cheek kissing thing.
