If this is REALLY bothering you..........contact the Chaplin in the prison.........ask him to let your friend know how much you miss him and would never think poorly of his writing.
He's in prison and has other things to worry about instead of some friendship he had in the past. The main thing on his mind is survival. You're not a priority of his. Move on.
The above is what I agree with.....nice that he knows you're available to him (if he writes), but definitely NOT a priority.
Do you know what a day is like for him?
Have you ever visited?
Do you put money in for him?
Have you asked in your letters what YOU can do for him???
i meant to say in my original post that he sends me a christmas card every year not every month,,i don't know why the one reader stopped reading and
didn't realize that was a typo..
When someone leaves out paragraphs, spaces, and punctuation, it is hard, for me, at least, to read past line 5.
Some people just don't like to write. Maybe he doesn't think that his life right now would be interesting to you, or maybe it's so stressful that he doesn't want to relive it by putting it on paper. I'm sure there is also some element of depression. The sad thing is, if you stop writing, he's going to take it as some perverted truth that no one cares . . . it's a vicious cycle. And he might be angry, that you're outside enjoying life, and he's behind bars.
When will he be released?
My inclination would be to keep writing, to show that someone cares about him and is thinking about him, but keep it casual, and stop expecting an answer. I mean, it's been 8 years -- why do you think he's suddenly going to change?
He's over you . You need to move on and find a new pal.
