I was later told by younger employees that I was intimidating and they were scared of me. People my age who later became my friends said hat they thought I was mean and intimidating. But older people and children think Im nice and friendly. Im the kind that will engage in conversation with total strangers in the check out line and random children with come up and start talking to me. So I dont get it.
think they can get over because I look kind of like George from Seinfeld (balding, chubby, metabolic syndrome), maybe the "nice guy" look which gives me a bad complex about myself. Even tho I'm caucasian and obviously cannot look like him, I always liked that character who played on The Parkers sit com(I forgot his name), he had a cool, kind of humorous offhand way with the ladies that i thought was cool
But when I occasionally get a flirty look from ladies I tend to feel better
I'm from the streets of North Philly. For most of my life I've worn the North Philly look. As my life has changed, I've adopted a more friendlier approach, especially at work. So I take the hood look off during business hours. But since I'm now out the hood, I tend to not be so guarded. I am still aware of who's around me and where I am at all times.
yeah I'm the same way with kids and older people and at check out lines. not sure if people think i'm intimidating tho. if i was i'd be married and have kids by now!!!
From what I have been told I come across as much more confident and together than I really am.
I get told that I am outgoing, friendly and charming.
I have also been told that I can be argumentative (who me? ) intimidating and stuck up.
I work hard to be friendly, and not to seem stuck up. I think a lot of that has to do with my accent. I haven't been told I seem stuck up once since I moved to the States, but I used to get it every now and then in the UK.
After thinking about this for a little while, I would say that "people" usually have the first impression that I am laid-back, humble, and cool, like I don't worry a lot. It's pretty much true, but there is so much more to me that people discover when they get to know me.
