What's even more interesting to me is the owners of the mill hinting that they have other retailers lined up

From cheapflights.com

Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU), located 4.5 miles (7 km) northeast of the town of Morrisville in South Carolina, has direct service to more than 40 cities and is equidistant from the cities of Raleigh and Durham.

I do not think they know what state RDU is in or Raleigh and Durham. The are so cheap, they can not get the state right, I don't know if they could get your right city you want to fly to.

Plans move forward to build new transportation hub in uptown

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Project leaders say the Gateway Station Project is right on track.

The idea is to give people one central place to go, whether they want to take a bus, ride the light rail or the street car, or even board an Amtrak train.

The project has been in the works for nearly a decade. Once completed, the multi-modal transit hub will occupy two city blocks.

90-percent of the land has been acquired.

Votaw says the facility could be ready around the time phase two of street car opens in 2018-2019.

America needs passenger rail
Posted by Anthony Foxx

Well, it turns out, the American people are voting on this question with their train tickets. Amtrak has broken ridership records in 10 out of the past 11 years. The train service that runs between Charlotte and Raleigh carries 100,000 more riders today than it did only five years ago.

How

The old article you posted matches up with the timeline of the other article saying Gaeway station could be up by 2017/2018 coinciding with the Gold Like extension. And in your old article it mentioned that in around a year, they hoped to be able to do gateway and the red line. Which just 2 days ago, MTC had its meeting.

It helps the Red line that Hutersville mayor leads the MTC and Huntersville, Cornelius & Davidson are the towns leading the red line. I would kill to have the red line 38 commuter trains running between LKN and uptown would be awesome for me.

Does NCDOT own the line up to Davidson? May be down the road it could become a dual track system.

I known the towns in north Mecklenburg have been building TOD. I know the town manger of Davidson and he would love to see the Red Line running now.

The Billion dollar question is how will they pay for the RedLine. Double tracking will add 350 million plus to a project estimated at 650 million now. It is not eligible for federal funding & won't be cost effective against BRT type service than can be implemented once they put toll lanes on 77. I will be shocked if Gateway moves forward any time within the next 10 yrs

It may take 50 years to get all these things done. BRT make the best sense, for the time. I don't see why it is not on the table now.

Look like we have a champagne taste on a beer budget.

And the war on Charlotte, Raleigh & Asheville continues.

NC senate will introduce a bill to revoke the deal over Dorthea Dix despite pledges from Governor McCrory.

McCrory is quickly becoming powerless against rural legislators who stick their thumb in urban eyes every single last chance they get
