I find it funny how a certain group of people wants "big government" out of their lives, but wants to make big government tell people who can and cannot get married. Makes no sense to me. Hypocrisy at its finest.
Ah, they don't want big brother telling what to do with their money, morals on the other hand, is a different story.

It would depend how apathetic voters would be on a 2nd round. In the first round total turnout didn't number to the amount of registered Republicans.
In theory the Republicans would have to heavily court Independents since they are out numbered by Democrats.
The issue is that a number of dems and independents would consider a "decent GOP candidate" in a nano second, but anyone near the center fails the primary litmus tests,
Of course, the same could be said for the Dems, I guess.
Democracy is imploding right before our collective eyes.
There are a lot people that could agree with certain aspects of their platform, but what nothing to do with them because of their socially conservative stances.
The worst thing is, a great many "conservatives" don't even really believe, or at least care very much about, these divisive social issues, but they know that, when the rubber meets the road, if they can drum up turnout among their base by playing on fear and ignorance, it can make differences in elections. The Right has ALWAYS relied on fear against "the other" or "the unknown" to drum up support, whether it was against communists, racial equality, feminism, or (for the moment) marriage equality or immigration.
The worst thing is, most Republicans aren't even fiscally conservative any more--they want to give everybody's money to the super-rich. Taxes will ultimately go UP in NC as of 2014 for most taxpayers except the very top income level, thanks to the increases in sales/services taxes.

You do realize that The left could care less about our fiscal well being and this notion that the right wants to give everybody's money to the super rich is insane. Do you understand where our taxes are going?
Look at all of our fiscally failing entitlements. While "Rome is burning to the ground" (taxing & printing money to spend foolishly on left programs) our country is falling into the abyss of self destruction. Everybody including the LGBT community, needs to pull together to fix our MAJOR problems we have now. Social issues will not fix our continuing debt problems or secure our freedoms
As for the super rich associated with the left - you would be shocked to know how many there are.
You do realize that The left could care less about our fiscal well being...
you really believe this?

And of course none of them know anything about fiscal matters?

And what is the #1 problem, the common denominator in all these things?
It's not a trick question... it shows itself in every discussion touching on economics or politics
or even philosophy and the RIGHT is responsible for AT LEAST HALF of it.
If you're ever inclined to look for solutions... they won't come cheap but they're out there.
Overturned or not, you better start supporting gay marriage 100% or you will end up like the CEO of Mozilla. Deviation from Progressive groupthink is not tolerated.
The people who do not support gay marriage will look ridiculous after gay marriage is legalized everywhere. It's just a matter of time. People who did not support equal rights for blacks and whites during the Civil Rights movement were shunned after the "s" hit the fan.
I'm not gay, but it's none of my business who marries who. It shouldn't be the gov'ts business either.
