It has been said that Wegman's will not expand to North Carolina until it has stores in the Richmond are. Now that it has announced its expansion to the Richmond area, it is not far fetched for them to consider expanding into the nearby Raleigh-Durham market, 2.5 hours down the road.

Eh, big deal. Before I moved down here, Wegmans came to my old town. I never went. I was happy with my old options & had zero interest in buying $10 a pound venison etc.

If money is no object, they aren't bad. But I've typically walked out with very little, the times that I've gone. They're not as bad as Publix, but they aren't anything special.
Ahhhh...Wegmans....the king of all grocery stores. Let's hope and hope and HOPE they can cross that NC line and get to Raleigh! And for those of you non-believers.....you are either a) not the grocery shopper of the family or b) clueless. Wegmans not only delivers their customers a superior shopping experience but they know how to treat those customers extremely well. In addition they have often been ranked in the top three of places to work and it shows as their employees are very loyal and in turn treat the customers well.

I don't doubt it is a nice chain, give my limited experiences with it while traveling. I'm just not that into the idea, either way.
I do think that it's just a place people miss when they move here.
Kinda like Wawa.

I don't think Wegman's will expand to North Carolina until they build a distribution center south of Pennsylvania. That's the real hurdle. Not where their southernmost store is located.
So this is a Yankee chain grocery store? No thanks
