Immigration is the responsibility of the federal government, it is not the job of the state or local LEOs, plus the feds do not ask the local LEOs for help. The law, like voter fraud and HB2 is looking for a problem that does not exist.

If immigration enforcement is separated from local law enforcement, wouldn't illegal immigrants that are committing crimes be more likely to be able to stay, while the federal government will have to find "innocent" illegals to deport because they aren't being notified about the ones being arrested?

Comply with the law, no problem. Pretty simple and straight shooting on this one.......one would hope. Will have to wait to see the final details, to see if any crazy stuff gets added. I know how the NC democrats/left love their illegals, for lower than minimum wage work on just about everything........but the law is the law and at some point it would be nice to start enforcing them fairly and equally and to STOP USING & ABUSING illegal aliens and their families.

"Under the bill, the state would withhold public school building capital funding and Powell funding for city streets from any local government that violates the sanctuary city ban. The money would be forfeited for at least a year, until the city or county complied with the state law".
Read more at Proposal would punish 'sanctuary cities' in NC :: WRAL.com

Odd... yet the republican'ts are crying foul with the Feds threat to withhold funds as a result of HB2...double standard ?

So every traffic stop, you get asked if you are a citizen of the USA. I cannot imagine anyone supporting "driving while Hispanic" racial profiling.

Come on out to Joe Arpaio's Maricopa County Arizona. Standard operating procedure (although to be fair he did just get hit by a federal judge for civil contempt of court. Criminal charges may be pending)

What about more serious crimes? Is Durham at least reporting drug traffickers and sex offenders?
