From what I read it's not new and not on the rise. Seems to attack only particular people---no one knows who or why. Many diseases attack certain people and again no one knows who or why. It's always a good idea to take a good shower and blow your nose good and clean your ears after going into any public swimming place---pools. lakes or streams. If we worry about whether or not we will be that "certain" person we will have to stop going out of our homes completely. It's something to be aware about but I'm still going to enjoy life!!
I remember when those cases broke out here in the Orlando area. We have warnings on fresh water places that the amoeba is present and to stay out of the water.
