Ok I was born and lived in Maryland and lived there till I was 9 then my family moved to Arizona because my Dad wanted to and he got a job transfer there. I then lived there till the second semester of my Junior Year of High School and then I ended up moving to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia because of my fathers job. My Dad had gotten a job transfer in November and we decided we were going to move to Riyadh too, however we had to wait a couple of months for our visas to be processed. So we left at the end of April and I finished up my Junior year of High School here at the American School in Riyadh. I am now going into my Senior Year and after I graduate I have to move back to the states. I really have no desire to go back to Arizona and I miss weather with actual seasons other then warm, hot, and hotter. I looked at a couple of schools back east and I like UNC-Charlotte. However I would prefer to knock off my first two years of college at a community college. Would North Carolina be a good place to go to college and live? And can anyone recommend a good community college to go to. Also what is the public transportation system like in NC? With gas prices the way they are in the states I would like to be able to walk or use public transportation as much as possible to get to where I need to go. Also can you tell me of some cities in NC with reasonable rent ranges for a college students? I know I will need roomates and I have some money saved up but I would like it to last as long as possible until I could find a job and be able to pay my bills and not have to live on savings.
the only town i know of around here that has public transportation--and i believe it's free for residents is Chapel Hill. there is of course UNC chaple hill. but i dont know how affordable that town would be for a college student.
