According to the main City Data forum thread page, North Carolina has the highest number of threads (74,000+) and the 2nd highest number of posts (890,000+).
Does that make us the most popular state to discuss on City Data? Or does it just mean we have too much time on our hands here in NC???
It's misleading, because C-D never deletes threads. A lot of those threads are very old ones going back to the "frenzy" days of 2006-07. I suspect if threads were deleted after X amount of time, and the forum showed more recent activity, NC would be near the top, but not ON top, as a lot of attention has turned elsewhere. Anyway, I think Texas has a higher post number than NC. EDIT: Ah, you said 2nd highest in posts.
If I counted correctly, the Triangle's Forum has more activity than most states. The Triangle has more threads than 43 states and more posts than 45 states. I think that it's also the most active singular "city" forum in all of CityData.
I think that Charlotte has the second most active "city" Forum in all of CityData but the Triangle is pulling away. If the SC part of Metrolina is added to Charlotte's numbers, the Triangle still has a few thousand more threads but a few thousand fewer posts. I think, in the past, those combined Forums in Metrolina exceeded the Triangle in both the number of threads and posts.
Maybe it's because we all type slowly down here...takes us two syllables to say what most people say in one.
