Pinehurst is a great town. More military families are moving to Pinehurst that is the cause of the moving.

Pinehurst is a great town. It has a lot of charm and things to do for fun. The big thing is the golfing. You can easily get to many towns for there as far as work is concerned.

The schools are good. It is a nice town for families. The surrounding areas are good as well. (Southern Pines, Whispering Pines)

No talk of a new high school however I think they have "schools of choice" which means you can request for your child to go to another school, but you would have to transport them.

We moved here from overseas in the summer of 2008. We chose to live in Whispering Pines because of the school system. Union Pines High School has about half the students as Pinecrest High (for residents of Pinehurst). We have been very happy with the school - our youngest, now a senior, will graduate with honors this summer and is headed to UNC. Good luck!
