Has anyone lived in both areas? or knows about the differences in the two? I am hoping to relocate from Florida when I get my MSN degree for Nurse Practitioner. As far as health care jobs, low crime rates, reasonable homes (no more than 275k), and great schools, how do the two cities compare?

Don't be sorry. It's just advice and recommendation. Don't look for the emotion in the wording of posts. Too many people get bent out of shape doing it.

I live in the RTP and can say that there is lots of ANP openings, but it also depends on your esperience or specialty. Since the RTP has NP school at UNC and Duke, plus PAs from Duke and CPPs from UNC, I would think there would be more competition here. But with all the large research facilities and academic hospitals here, maybe it evens out.

Heck, if you can't decide, you could see what job you get offered first before moving. Your degree is in demand everywhere, so I'm sure you'll do well in NC, since it is a progressive state.

I'm bias for the RTP without knowing what Charlotte offers. All I know of Charlotte is that it is huge in Banking industry and NASCAR.
