My husband just went out there from Michigan. Watford is a tiny town. There is Willistom 45 minutes away. You going out there to work for a certain company.

trickey280 is correct. It is a pretty small town...but it does have some nice places. You are only about 20min to the North Unit of the Theodore Roosevelt Natl Park (if you are into outdoors)...not too far from Lake Sakakawea (to the north) 45min. from Williston (not a huge town, but has the basics you need). Watford has a good school system, new playpark, theater, Bar&Grill, and are now working on a new Health Center. Pretty decent little main street...couple restaraunts, few bars, grocery store, the basics. Summers are VERY nice in North Dakota...not the Hot HUMID summers you experience back in Pennsylvania...dry heat in North Dakota...but it does get hot in July-August. Housing is an issue...so prices are a little overpriced because of supply-demand going on with the oil boom. Make sure you have housing lined up before you come up...it is nearly impossible to find housing. But many "man camps" are being built in the Williston-Watford-Tioga-Stanley areas...I know a couple new mobile home parks are being built in Watford City as well.
Below are a couple links to Watford City that might be helpful...their local newspaper and official town web site. Good Luck!

I just talked to my husband and he also said the ravines aren't as deep as in Pennsylvania. He worked out in the State Collage area this past spring. He said if you are looking to get away from the rat race North Dakota is a great place to go.

thank you both for the information.. i am alright with small town living and that is just great that the summers are not to humid... i have been to California in the middle of summer and it was just perfect.. hot but not humid so North Dakota sounds alright to me in the summer...

i was just doing some looking around and i see that everyone is talking about how hard it is to find housing.. so here is another question.. what about buying land? is that as few and far between as finding housing?
